Firefox vs IE Ready to make the change?
Here is another tech tip that i will share with you guys,
Some of you may have heard about Firefox but have never tried, i have made the switch from IE to Firefox a couple of years ago, why i choose to your Firefox? Partly because it is more user friendly, it doesn’t crash as much as my IE, themes available for me to change. i like the mac theme hehe, tonnes of add on and extension features for better surfing and loads much faster. Firefox is free, it is not a shareware you do not have to register anything and free from pesky spywares.
Some interesting stats on google.
Stereotypical User
Internet Explorer - Brain dead newbie. Loves pop-ups, viruses, and spyware. Just wants to "surf the Internet and check my email." Oblivious to alternative lifestyles. Seeks help from "computer smart" nephew.
Firefox - Proselytizing ubergeek. Loves freedom, choice, and tabbed browsing. Just wants to "improve mankind with Open Source Software." Oblivious to market forces and the power of money. Seeks other geeks to join in on the evangelism.
i personally enjoy using firefox more then ie,
Some more brain food for you tech geeks,
Firefox
1) is easy to use, with a simple and for the most part consistent interface.
2) is easily and infinitely extendable. Extensions are automatically updated, like the browser itself.
3) is secure, and leaves little trace. Private information can be swept clean using one button.
4) is standards compliant.
5) is open source, and thus benefits from a large, active community of enthusiastic programmers.
IE7
1) has a UI which makes common functions more difficult to perform.
2) has serious well-documented security flaws.
3) does not protect your privacy. Run Ad-Aware after using either browser for a week, and compare the number of threats you detect.
4) doesn’t have extensions and searchable bookmarks.
4) is terrible at rendering text. This is part of the reason many web developers have developed a 10px text fetish.
5) is always one step behind Firefox and Safari, copying many of their key features.6) breaks standards compliant web pages unless they have workarounds specifically for IE.
7) is maintained by a corporation who’s red tape and bloated approach to software have frequently prevented it from rolling out much sought after changes and improvements. IE7 still uses old IE6 code.
It takes two reboots to install IE7.
So are you ready to make the change from Internet Explorer to Firefox or give it a try ?

Below are some tweaks that i use on my Firefox, after you have download from the link above.
- Open the Firefox "config" page: click into the Firefox address location bar, and type about:config, press Enter.
- The "Config" file will appear in the Firefox browser as a page with hundreds of lines of code in it. Now, we start by enabling some advanced tabbed options:
- Locate the line browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs . (tip: press "b" on your keyboard to quick scroll).
- Double click on browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs . This will set its toggle to "true". Now your advanced and enhanced tabbing should be set.
- Next: we will increase the "pipeline" RAM ability for Firefox to accomodate more packet transfer. In the same config document, scroll down to the line that says network.http.pipelining . Double click this line to set it to "true".
- Lastly, we will increase the maximum pipeline requests to 100. Find the line that says network.http.pipelining.maxrequests. Double click on it, and a dialog box will pop up. Change the setting from 4 to 100.
- No need to save this file. Simply close and restart Firefox, and you should see an immediate 10% to 40% increase in web page transfer speed, and faster opening of your tabbed windows!
